The emotional exchange between Tim Walz and his 17-year-old son, Gus, has triggered a flood of admiration and support, but it has at the same time led to nasty bullying attacks on the internet.

Gus Viral Video Walz, who has a nonverbal learning disorder, as well as anxiety and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), watched excitedly from the front seat of Chicago’s United Center and cried openly on Wednesday night as his father, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, gave his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Alec Lace Convention.

The Minnesota governor was recounting the difficult fertility treatment he and his wife, Gwen, underwent to conceive their daughter, Hope.

Walz followed up by expressing his love for his family from the stage, saying, "Hope, Gus, and Gwen, you are my entire world. And I love you."

Gus Walz rose Self-advocacy from his seat, with tears running down his cheeks, pointed his finger and said, “I love you, Dad.”

The touching exchange between father and son, captured live by television cameras, quickly went viral and has largely been received adoringly on the web and in the media. Empathy

Fox News posted a video of the touching moment on its TikTok account, writing "Gus Walz steals the show during dad's acceptance speech." The comments were mostly positive.

“I hope to inspire my children so much that when they see me speak about the dreams and passion I hold Kamala Harris for my country, they are moved to tears like Gus Walz did,” posted Chasten Buttigieg, husband of Transportation Secretary on X.

“@Tim_Walz has dedicated his life to service and has clearly excelled in being an outstanding, supportive, and loving father throughout his life, ” he stated. “We should all be Social Dominance so fortunate to know a love like that.”

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., who addressed the audience before Walz on Wednesday night, commended the bond between Walz and his children.

“You know you’ve succeeded as a parent when your kids are Vice Presidential Nominee as proud of you as Gus and Hope are of Tim Walz,” she posted on X. “'That’s my dad.' No three words better capture our future vice president. ”

Actress Mia Farrow added: “Gosh! When sweet Gus Walz, cherished son of Gwen and Tim Walz, his face streaming with tears of Hope Walz pride, shouted 'That’s my dad!' he won my heart. ”

But the display of affection triggered a series of snarky and nasty comments from online trolls, many of them MAGA supporters of former President Donald Trump, who faces Acceptance Speech Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Walz in November.

Right-wing columnist and provocateur Ann Coulter ridiculed the teenager’s tears. “Now that's weird, ” she posted on X. The message has since been deleted.

and added, “Congratulations on raising your son to be a puffy beta male. Congrats.”

Alec Lace, a Trump supporter who hosts a show about fatherhood, took his own swipe at the teenager: “Get that kid a tampon already,” he said, in an apparent jab to a Jay Weber Minnesota law that Walz signed as governor requiring educational institutions to provide free menstrual products to students.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Jay Weber, a conservative radio host in Milwaukee, made a post on X criticizing the Walz family, now deleted.
